About us

The people behind Circut.

Jonathan Lefèvre shaped his love of well-made interfaces at companies obsessed with customer experience (Capitaine Train, Notion, Memo Bank). Years of answering customers in writing taught him to never type the same sentence twice. As a productivity nerd with a thing for the written word, he uses text expansion several hundred times a day. So much so that he designed Circut, pixel by pixel.

Damien Gosset wrote his first macOS applications in the early 2000s, and has never stopped since. Along the way, he has deployed and secured entire fleets of Macs: he knows exactly what an app may do, and what it must never do. He is an Apple platform veteran, and he was fed up with text expanders that never met his standards.

Craft, detail and dogfooding

We love products, and interfaces that put their users first. Circut is our answer to the text expanders on the market, the ones we used intensively for more than fifteen years. Long enough to know every one of their shortcomings, and to work through them meticulously, building the tool we’d wished for all those years.

Bootstrapped, in our customers’ interest

Circut is a 100% independent project. We have no investors to please, and Circut was not created to be acquired. It is a tool we designed to meet our own needs, and one we mean to keep improving for years. We are its first users, and our interests are completely aligned with our customers’: building the best possible product.
