What Circut is
And how you can put it simply.
In one sentence
Circut is a text expansion tool for macOS, polished down to the last detail: you type a short trigger, and it writes the full text in its place, in any app on your Mac.
In one paragraph
Circut is a text expansion tool for macOS. You type a trigger of a few letters, and it writes the full text in its place, in any app: a canned reply, a signature, an email address, a sentence you keep retyping… Everything happens on your Mac, with no account, no server and no artificial intelligence. It ships with several thousand ready-made triggers, is full of small ideas that make it easier to use, and it’s bought with a lifetime license.
In several paragraphs
Circut is a text expansion tool for macOS, built by two craftsmen who have relied on one for fifteen years. The idea is an old one: you type a trigger, the tool writes the full text in its place. What Circut adds to it works both ways — it brings in people who never managed to get into text expansion, and it takes further those who already live by it.
For the first group, it removes the empty library wall: several thousand ready-made triggers ship with the app, and it suggests triggers that are easy to remember and will not fire in the middle of an ordinary word. For the second, it surfaces what they would never have looked for: the sentences they retype without thinking, the times a trigger existed and went unused, what they actually rely on.
None of it works without reliability. Text cut off halfway, a clipboard wiped out, an expansion that goes wrong in one app out of three: these are the flaws that make people give up on the category, and Circut has fixed them one by one. The engine is deterministic, and no AI guesses on your behalf.
Everything is handled locally, with no account and without a single byte of your text leaving the Mac. It’s bought with a lifetime license rather than a subscription, with no investors and no funding round behind it. Circut is currently in private beta on macOS.
Why we built it
Text expansion is unusually useful, and yet most people never get into it. Existing tools put beginners off, and they don’t help seasoned users get everything out of it either.
After fifteen years of running into these problems every day, we ended up building the tool we had always wanted: the one that finally gives text expansion the attention to detail it deserves.

Colors
#4945D1 → #282483#4C3DDB#6B66F2What we ask
Keep the proportions, and leave some air around it: at least the height of the icon on each side. Don’t recolor the logo, don’t tilt it, and don’t put it on a background that swallows it. The wordmark is set in Manrope SemiBold, converted to outlines in the files we ship: no font is needed to display it.
